The brief required a simple getaway for a writer, on or surrounding Cramond island in Edinburgh. My building was situated on the banks of the River Almond, by the walking path.

The division of time between sleeping, eating and resting became the focus of the design. Calculating how much time would be spent on each, I decided upon a ratio to summarise this, splitting the floorspace of the design into this ratio.

The river bank site proved to be difficult regarding the amount of light that entered any building on this site, therefore the curved glass window was decided upon to optimise the natural light in the space.
